Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue – A Movie Review
I’ve got some exciting movie news for you! There’s this awesome historical drama thriller called ‘Mission Raniganj’ that’s all about the incredible bravery of Jaswant Singh Gill, a mining engineer who led a daring rescue mission in the Raniganj Coalfields back in 1989.
The film, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Pooja Entertainment, stars the one and only Akshay Kumar as Jaswant Singh Gill and the talented Parineeti Chopra as his wife, Nirdosh Kaur Gill. It’s all about their journey and the intense rescue mission.
And guess what? The movie just hit the screens on October 6, 2023, and it’s already getting a lot of love! Critics and audiences are raving about it, so if you’re into historical dramas with a thriller twist, this one’s a must-watch.
The Plot
There’s this guy named Jaswant Singh Gill, a total genius who graduated from IIT Dhanbad and works as a mining engineer in the Raniganj Coalfields. He’s got this super supportive wife, Nirdosh Kaur Gill, who’s a school teacher and totally gets his passion for his work.
Now, here’s where it gets crazy. One day, he gets a call from his senior, R J Ujjwal, and learns that there’s been a massive accident at the coal mine, and 65 miners are stuck inside. So, what does he do? He rushes to the scene, and guess what he finds? The mine is flooded with water, and there’s no way to reach the trapped miners.
But Jaswant is not the type to back down from a challenge. He decides to take matters into his own hands and volunteers to go inside the mine using this capsule thing, which is basically a metal container for one person. His plan? To bring out the miners one by one.
Now, here’s where it gets intense. Inside that mine, he faces all kinds of crazy dangers like equipment malfunctions, low oxygen levels, insane water pressure, electric shocks, and walls that just won’t stay up. And on top of all that, he’s dealing with panicked miners who’ve lost all hope. But Jaswant, he’s like a rock, trying to keep them calm and motivated.
Oh, and did I mention the doubters and naysayers among his colleagues, like D Sen and T P Bindal? They’re giving him a hard time, questioning every move he makes.
But here’s where it gets emotional. He’s left his wife behind, worried sick about him throughout this whole ordeal.
Against all the odds, he pulls off a miracle. He rescues 64 miners in just 17 hours, breaking world records for the longest underground rescue. But, hold on, there’s one more miner left – his friend Diwakar. Even though his capsule is damaged and he’s running out of oxygen, he goes back for Diwakar. And guess what? He saves him too, completing his mission like a total hero.
The Review
– this movie is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions that will keep you glued to your seat from start to finish. It’s not just a film; it’s an homage to the real-life hero, Jaswant Singh Gill, who risked everything to save others.
First off, it sheds light on the struggles of coal miners, who work in brutal conditions for minimal pay. It’s a powerful reminder of the harsh reality they face daily.
The performances here are top-notch. Akshay Kumar is incredible as Jaswant Singh Gill. He brings so much depth and authenticity to his character, making you feel every emotion Gill goes through – the fear, determination, anger, and joy. And Parineeti Chopra, as Nirdosh Kaur Gill, is a force to be reckoned with. She’s a pillar of strength, and their chemistry feels so real.
Now, let’s talk about the supporting cast – they’re just as phenomenal. Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, and the rest of the crew deliver stellar performances that add layers to the story.
Behind the scenes, the technical team shines. Tinu Suresh Desai’s direction keeps you hooked, and Vipul K Rawal’s screenplay is brilliantly researched. The cinematography captures the mine’s dark, claustrophobic atmosphere and the beauty of the outdoor scenes. Editing, music, background score – all top-notch.
What I’m saying is, ‘Mission Raniganj’ isn’t just a film; it’s a testament to humanity and heroism. It pays tribute to a real-life hero who saved countless lives. So, if you’re into gripping stories based on true events, this one’s a must-watch. It’s a film that’ll make you proud to be Indian
